Privacy Policy

1. Introduction
Welcome to LingoCapture. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclosure, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring you have a positive experience.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information that is necessary to provide our services, improve our app, and ensure a secure experience.
2.1 Information You Provide to Us
- Account information: If the app offers sign-up or sign-in, we collect the details you submit (for example, email and credentials), according to how that feature is implemented in the product you use.
- Waitlist / website (lingocapture.com): If you submit our waitlist or contact form, we receive the fields you send. That flow is handled by Formspree (a third-party form processor); see their privacy policy for how they process submissions in transit and at rest.
- User content: Vocabulary lists, saved translations, and progress data you explicitly save in the app, when those features exist and you use them.
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Device Information: Device model, operating system version, and unique device identifiers (for analytics and crash reporting).
- Usage Data: Interactions with app features, session duration, and crash logs.
2.3 Camera and Audio Data (Crucial for Functionality)
LingoCapture may request access to your device's Camera and Microphone for features described in the app.
- Camera: Used for AR / visual translation style features where applicable.
- Ephemeral processing: Some camera input may be processed on the device or sent over the network only as needed to perform translation or related features. We do not intend to keep raw camera feeds as a personal archive unless you explicitly save a capture inside the app.
- Microphone: Used where the app offers pronunciation or voice conversation features.
- Ephemeral processing: Audio may be processed in real time; what is stored, and for how long, depends on the feature and backend design.
Processors: If any camera, image, or audio data is sent off your device, it is processed by the third-party services we actually integrate for that release (providers and models can change). We do not name a specific vendor here unless we have published an up-to-date list; email [email protected] for the current subprocessor summary for your build and region.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected data for the following purposes:
- Core Functionality: To provide AR translations, gamified learning, and progress tracking.
- Account Management: To manage your subscription and sync progress across devices.
- Improvement: To analyze app performance, fix bugs, and improve translation accuracy.
- Communication: To send service updates or respond to support requests.
4. Data Sharing and Third Parties
We do not sell your personal data as a business practice.
Marketing site (this website): The waitlist / contact form on lingocapture.com is submitted through Formspree (formspree.io). Formspree receives what you type into the form (for example, email and message fields) to deliver it to us.
Mobile app: The app may rely on other companies for hosting, authentication, analytics, crash reporting, payments, distribution, and any cloud features (for example, translation or speech). We do not maintain a public vendor table in this policy unless every row has been verified for your live product. To request the current list of subprocessors and what categories of data they receive, email [email protected].
App stores: When you install through Google Play or the Apple App Store, Apple and Google receive information under their own policies (for example, install, updates, and platform analytics).
Any subprocessor we use is expected to handle data only for the purpose we engage them and under appropriate agreements; details above are described at a high level so we do not claim integrations we do not operate.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
- Retention: We keep your account-related data (for example, progress and saved content tied to your account) while your account remains open and as needed to run the service, unless the law requires otherwise.
- Deletion requests: There is no in-app “delete account” control right now. To ask us to delete your account and the personal data we hold for it, email [email protected] from the email address on your account, or clearly identify the account so we can confirm you own it.
- What happens next: After we verify your request, we will delete or anonymize your data where we reasonably can, including with any third-party services that actually store data for your account or device. Some information may persist for a limited time in backups, logs, or where retention is required by law or by platforms such as Apple or Google—we will not use it to restore your account for ordinary purposes once deletion is completed.
6. Children’s Privacy
LingoCapture is intended for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
7. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures to help protect personal information. Data you send between your device and our services is transmitted over HTTPS where our systems expose HTTPS endpoints. We do not claim a specific certification or stack (for example, a named database vendor) in this policy unless we publish that separately and keep it current.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
